BZFM V7 brakes operated with a pressure solenoid are spring applied brakes.  They have a two-surface braking, where the current is applied and released electromagnetically.

BZFM V7 brakes are very popular as series brakes fitted to electric motors and are also commonly used in wind turbines (for pitch and yaw drives) and in conveyor technology.
