In today’s world and more for an organisation like the Stromag Group, a supplier relationship is much more than a mere transaction. We are growing globally and we like to have our global relationships beyond mere selling our products and solutions in all parts of the world. Our experience has shown that India has a lot of capabilities that can be successfully tapped.
We are ...
We are the world leaders in mechanical drive control technologies and specialized in offering engineered solutions to our customers. Our customers rely on us for safety, reliability and productivity of the products that they make and offer to their customers. Therefore, our customers expect to be supplied with superior products and solutions.
To retain the leadership position in our areas of business and compete successfully in an increasingly demanding environment, demands that we demonstrate technological competence and innovative ability every way. Understandably, no enterprise can meet these challenges on its own and thus we have to look at the whole supply chain.
Our potential partners ...
Our focus is on partnerships that will help us to retain our competitive edge over the long term. The criteria we apply in our supplier evaluation process are technological competence, product and logistics quality, entrepreneurial potential, price-performance ratio, and production concept.
Our aim is to continuously improve the productivity of our manufacturing chain; we therefore require standardized processes for smooth, uninterrupted operations. This would require our suppliers to be able to meet our requirements regarding flexibility, delivery frequency, and replenishment lead time.
Acceptance of our quality assurance guidelines is a fundamental requirement for a business partnership with Stromag. We appreciate and ensure that uniform terms and conditions and clearly formulated contractual agreements are the basis for reliable long-term partnerships.
Close relationships with our suppliers, based on a spirit of partnership, is thus a precondition for our mutual success. Importantly, we would like to work with our suppliers on an intensive, long-term partnership model as we work with the constant challenge to find partners capable of delivering excellence at internationally competitive prices.
How do we go about?
- Confidentiality / Non-Disclosure Agreement: In the first stage there is a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement between the two organisations.
- Vendor Assessment: Our team will interact with our supplier’s to ensure that there is a strong engineering and manufacturing competence as well as excellent preventive quality assurance capability within the supplier organisation.
- Understanding and acceptance of terms and conditions of supply
- Release of trial order
- Review Supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and timing plan
- Sample readiness, inspection and acceptance by Stromag India prior to dispatch for acceptance by Stromag
- On acceptance by Stromag, pilot lot supply
- On acceptance of pilot lot, PPAP batch supply, testing and acceptance
What are we looking for?
We particularly look at capabilities of the supplier partner to move towards a zero defect target commitment, availability of quality tools and equipment. While we appreciate that in spite of the best intents and efforts, faults may still arise; we look to ensuring how these problems are thoroughly reviewed and analyzed thoroughly and feedback communicated. Our intent is not only to eliminate the cause, but also to prevent any recurrence of the error.
To minimize the costs involved in the detailed incoming inspection of a large number of parts, we require our suppliers to operate a quality management system to guarantee defect-free delivery, right from start of production. Accordingly, milestones are agreed with suppliers at the beginning of the project, specifying the quality assurance measures to be carried out during the engineering phase. Our detailed review would thus encompass amongst others; FMEAs, production processes, testing procedures, equipment capability testing and assessment of parameters that are likely to change during the production process.
Since is to be expected that our suppliers will in turn have suppliers of their own, the onus is on our suppliers to manage their sub suppliers. We would therefore require our suppliers to be able to continuously demonstrate the existence of a working model that constantly monitors their sub suppliers’ quality and supply performance, and working with them on a zero-defect target commitment.
